Rascal

Daddy brought home a big surprise last night.  The kids had no idea that Rascal was finally coming to live with us.  We moved the pen Sunday and got him a big, fancy doghouse too.  I knew but decided not to say anything.  When Daddy pulled up they were all playing outside.  I watched from the kitchen window as they realized that he had Rascal. They were so excited!

Rascal he one chubby, sweet puppy.  The kids are heaven.  Hershey, our cat watched from the kitchen window.  I'm thinking that she is not a big fan of Rascal yet.  She stayed in the window just watching with her tail straight in the air!

Rascal is already very playful and using those teeth of his.  He bites on Colton's shirts, Hayden's hair and Gracie's leggings!

Home Run Club

I didn't even know that there was a club called the Home Run Club....but there is.....and Hayden is now part of it!

They had a heck of a game Thursday.  It was a close, tense game until the Bulldogs pulled away with a ton of runs in the 5th inning.  Hayden had another amazing hit!  However, every time she came up to hit there were two outs!  That really stresses me out but she always pulls through with awesome hits and gets the girls home. She know clears her head before she hits.  She taps the bat on her cleats and then takes a few swings and a few deep breaths.  I think she may have learned this from watching Hugo but whatever works for her!

After the big win of the game.  The Recreation Department came over and presented Hayden with her Home Run Club T Shirt.  The whole team, coaches and parents were cheering her on.  There were lots of pictures taken.  One of her teammates even said she felt like she was standing beside someone famous.

We are so proud of Hayden and this huge accomplishments.  She has wanted that Home Run for a long time.  She has a whole lot of natural talent but she works of butt off too.  She practices all the time and she loves it.  We all do.  We load up and go to the fields to practice hitting and pitching.  Colton and Gracie run bases and pick up balls and we all participate.  It is so much fun doing it all together.

Hayden's hitting coach told her something yesterday that really stuck out.  She told her that home runs are accidents, line drives are what we want to hit but when it goes over that is just a bonus and lots of excitement.  I though that was some very valuable information.

UGA Softball Game Tour

Yesterday, Hayden's team got to tour the Georgia Softball players locker room and were supposed to go on the field for the national anthem.  Thanks to Aunt Kim and Uncle Artie for setting this up for the girls!  They did get to do their tour but the rain messed up the rest of the day and game.  That is ok thought, because Hayden got to meet her favorite player Alex Hugo!  All the girls were extremely shy and looked to be in shock.  So this Mommy turned on my assertiveness and told Alex that Hayden hit her first real home run over the fence at her last game.  Alex got up and hugged her.  Hayden said she asked her how old she was and she told her 9 and she said Alex said "wow good job girl".  I think it is safe to say that it totally made her day!  It was also Alex's birthday but the girls were all too shy to sing to her!  All the players were very nice and talked to the girls.  It was worth all of it for Hayden to meet Alex.  That is all she talks about....How she wants to hit just like Alex. Hayden works very hard on her hitting.   The hitting coach that we use was also a player at Georgia and Hayden loves and gets so excited about going every week.

Thanks Aunt Kim and Uncle Artie, it was a great experience

Real HOME RUN

Last night Hayden had possibly the best day of her life.  Well, actually I am pretty sure it was the best day of her life.  In fact, she made that very clear many times.

She had a game in Loganville last night.  It was pouring rain when we left Good Hope but the game was still on and I thought....Great we are going to get all the way to Loganville and then they are going to cancel.  WELL...I am so glad we went all the way to Loganville to start the game because my sweet baby girl hit her first real HOME RUN over the fence at her first bat last night.  It was PRICELESS.  I think I was cheering and jumping up and down but it was almost like every thing was silent when it happened.  I watched the ball come off her bat and I thought to myself this is it....please let this be it! and it WAS.  She realized it went over the fence after she crossed first base and saw all of her coaches with their hands up and all the parents cheering like crazy.  Then she said I just slowed down and ran the rest of the bases.  When she crossed home plate her coach picked her up and danced around with her and then I ran out to meet her and so did the rest of team!  I think it was a pretty priceless moment for everyone there.  It was all anyone could talk about after it happened.  We sent someone to retrieve the ball also!  The whole team was on fire last night and ready to play.  Unfortunately, it came a down pour and the umpires called the game after the 2nd inning.  The score at that time was 7-0!

Matt, Hayden's coach asked all the parents to give the home run hitter a big round of applause.  She sat there with the biggest smile on her face.  Then he gave her the home run ball!  She was so excited!  I seriously don't think I have ever seen her so excited, not even Christmas morning competes with this kind of excitement.  She says that is because Christmas morning comes every year and a real home run doesn't.  I told her that she was right!  All the way home she was crazy.  I loved hearing her so excited and so proud of herself.  Alright I have to admit that I was crazy excited too and couldn't wipe the proud smile off of my face either.  Mark was crazy excited too,  he just kept saying over and over again she hit it over the fence!  In fact, I am pretty sure we all woke up with the same smile this morning.  Hayden slept with her home run ball last night and took it to school with her this morning to show off.  She said she was going to show all those boys that she can hit one over the fence!!!  She puts a new meaning to you hit like a girl or you throw like a girl!

The umpire last night told our coach that he had been doing games there for 10 years and he has not ever seen a girl her age hit one over the fence.  I kept telling Mark it was like watching the Georgia Softball players hit.  It was the most awesome beautiful hit I have ever seen!  Oh and she did text her hitting coach and told her all about her home run and she was so proud of her too.  She had an amazing evening and I can't wait to hear what every one had to say at school today

Catching up again

Well here we are once again and I am extremely behind on the blog.

First of all we have been very busy with softball, baton and school.

Hayden got the game ball at her last Softball game.  She hit the ball the further than any girl her age ever has.  It was priceless.  It was so priceless that this Mommy was crying while she proudly ran her bases for a homerun.  I guess I was so proud of her the tears just came out!  She had two other hard hit far balls that night too.  She has been playing 3rd base very well.  She has caught many line drives and pop ups so far this season.  She recently made a great double play!

Hayden also had the state fair project two weeks ago.  Her state was Montana, which worked well for our proud cowgirl.  She did a fantastic job collecting pictures, facts and decorating her board.  We ordered a state flag, state bird and state flower for her display.  She also had to prepare some type of food from Montana, so she helped me make Bison chili.  It turned out to be a big hit.  Once again I was very proud of my baby girl.

Gracie is still loving baton and preparing for her recital in June.  She practices in front of us all the time.  She really has learned a lot.

Gracie had Community helper week in Kindergarten.  The kids had to work and earn money for 30 minutes and then they got to shop for 30 minutes.  It was so much fun that all the grades at GWA wanted to come.  They did let some high school kids attend, 5th graders and 3rd graders come.  Gracie had to work the lemonade stand and she did it with a big smile.  She had the best time serving all of Hayden's friends when they came through.

Colton has had a blast attending all the things for his sisters.  He went to the state fair, community helpers, softball games and baton.  He plays with his trucks everywhere we go and is usually pretty good until he is completely done!

Last week was spring break but we didn't really get to do much. Just visited with family and enjoyed sleeping in. Friday we did go to the movies with Mimi and Aunt Linda.  We went to see HOME and it was good for the kids.  Gracie really enjoyed it.  Then they went home with Mimi to spend the night with her and Pop.

Saturday we went to the UGA softball game and it was a great game.  Hayden really enjoyed it.  However I forgot sunscreen and got burnt!!!  The Easter bunny also came Saturday night.  He brought lots of candy and a stuff for Hayden and Gracie's fairy gardens.  Colton got trucks, tractors and guns.  They also had a scavenger let them know they are getting puppy.  It is a lab, it is white / yellow and it is male.  Oh and they decided to name him Rascal!

We celebrated Easter at Grandmama's house.   It was also her birthday so it was a big celebration.  All the babies loved playing together and hunting the Easter eggs with money and candy in them.

I think I have covered every thing....maybe!
