Aunt Linda Saves the Day and Piglet!

Tuesday, we stayed home all day because the so called weather man said that it was going to rain all day.  Well, there was no rain at my house, but that was okay because sometimes we just need some down time at home.  Aunt Linda and Grandmama called and wanted to come visit after lunch, so the girls and little man were excited.  Aunt Linda is always entertaining and the all 3 of them love Grandmama and Aunt Linda so much!

Well, when Aunt Linda and Grandmama got here, they noticed that 3 little piglets were out and one little piglet was stuck in the fence!  I hit panic mode because animals are not MY thing at all!  We all surrounded the pin and all 3 little piglets ran right back in the same hole they came out of and the other little piglet managed to squeeze its head back through the hole it was stuck in!  I must say that this pin with Wilburette and all of these piglets smells exactly like a pig pin, which makes me want to vomit!  I have a VERY weak stomach for bad smells!!!!  Also since Mark has been watering the pin for them,  every time Wilburette moved around she slung a little mud too!  Talk about my kind of adventure!  So I found some things to put in front of the hole and Aunt Linda helped me since I was having a hard time keeping down my lunch!  Problem solved and we all came in to cool off and play!  Well, Hayden and Gracie managed to talk Aunt Linda into walking down the driveway to find leaves, acorns, rocks and whatever else.  So when they opened the door to go, Aunt Linda saw one little piglet running around and around the pin, trying desperately to get back in to its Mama!

Here we go again, it what went through my mind.  Well that and What in the world was my husband thinking when he brought this wild hog home a few months ago!??!  So here is the real adventure of the day!  This time this one piglet was able to go under the door of the gate, so it couldn't get back in the same way without getting stuck and squealing like a pig!  Now I know where the saying comes from!!!  So when the piglet really got stuck and scared and wouldn't quit squealing, Aunt Linda bravely walked up to it and grabbed it to pull it out.  The first thing Aunt Linda said is "well these pigs are definitely not soft like the one in Charlotte's web."  Well, of course Wilburette charged at her and all of us because she thought we were trying to hurt her baby.  Finally Aunt Linda lifted up enough on the gate for the piglet to safely remove its head, but then we were back to trying to figure out how to get this piglet back in the pin.  So Linda walked around and around the pin and finally we realized we were going to have to catch it because it couldn't get back in.  We were too scared to open the door, all I could think was...'what if Wilburette came running out after all of us' , yes I am scared of Wilburette and really don't like to deal with her!  So I came in and got our dog crate so we could at least catch the piglet until Mark got home and then he could deal with this whole silly situation!  Well Linda chased the piglet around the pin and got splashed with more mud from the very concerned Wilburette and I had the dog crate turned the wrong way...go figure...so we started over again and Linda got a big towel and when little piglet headed her way she caught it but it slipped out as fast as it when in, so here we go again but Aunt Linda said "okay I am ready this time" so piglet came hauling hiney around the pin again and Linda CAUGHT little piglet and it was shaking its head and squealing so loudly!  Finally, we caught Piglet!

Hayden wanted to pet Piglet but decided after the way it was acting that she didn't want to get close to it, so Linda slipped it back into the pin and we put all sorts of things from around the yard in front of the door to keep the little rascal in the pin this time!  All the pigs were safe and accounted for on Farm Stancil! Talk about an exciting adventure.  Hayden is going to have lots to write and talk about when school starts next week.  I wonder what her class thinks about us and all of our silly animal adventures...I mean we have had skunks, dogs, pigs, quail, and chickens!!

Keep reading there was another post for today about my shy little Gracie Leigh!

  1. Yay for Aunt Linda! Maybe she should become a professional pig wrangler after she retires! :)
