I have posted a picture to the right called When They Met. It is a very special picture to Mark and I. Mark wanted me to write about this because it is a very important part of us.
Hayden was diagnosed with a brain mass on August 21, 2008. I was 9 months pregnant with Gracie and so scared for both my babies. Hayden was sent to Children's Healthcare to get the best care. They did surgery immediately after discovering the mass and she spent a week in the hospital and came home on two antibiotics through a pic line. After being home for a couple of days we realized she had a rash, so immediately we took her to our pediatrician. They decided to take her off the antibiotics to figure out which one was causing the reaction. After being off the antibiotics for a couple of days she had what they think was another seizure and ended back at the hospital on September 1, 2008.
In the meantime my doctor had scheduled me for induction on September 2, 2008, needless to say I was very upset and didn't know what to do. I didn't have a choice but to go and have my new precious baby, but we were not sure how to leave Hayden at the hospital. It was definetly the hardest thing we have ever had to do.
We had Mimi stay with Hayden at the hospital and knew she was in excellent care. It was hard being so excited about a new baby and scared for our other child. After arriving at the hospital that morning they got started and by 1:02pm we had a healthy 8lb 8oz baby Gracie. Gracie is still the most patient and content baby ever. She loves her big sister more than anything and Hayden is like her second Mommy, she helps do everything (even change diapers).
Hayden and Gracie both came home from the hospital on September 4, 2008. Hayden was very tired and confused when she got home but as soon as she saw Gracie in the swing she was fine. It was love at first sight.
We thank God everyday for our blessings and for two healthy beautiful girls.
